Humanity | Week 3: Jesus Fixes Broken Things

So that’s it, then. We’re broken people in a jacked up world. What now? Good news—the life of Jesus means that our brokenness isn’t the end of the story. God is in the business of redeeming broken things and bringing them back to life—and that is something worth celebrating.

Process, journal or discuss the themes of this article - here's a few questions to get the ball rolling...

Welcome to the Chaser–a few questions after the weekend service to start conversations. If this is your first time in a group, or your group has new members, take a few minutes and introduce yourself. Two truths and a lie is always a good place to start.

  1. You’ve probably never lost an arm wrestling match in front of 1,200 people, but we’ve all had moments where our strength failed us. Share a time when you felt physically weak. (Bonus points for embarrassing stories.)

Some follow up questions: Have you ever been the hero when someone’s strength fails? Have you ever WON an armwrestling match in front of 1,200 people?

  2. Read Romans 5:6-8 out loud in your group. What jumps out at you in this passage?

Some follow up questions: How can weakness be more than a physical condition? Why would the author talk about weakness as a benefit?

  3. “There may be things in your life you don’t like. And God may use them to benefit the purpose he has for your life.” We heard this idea in service. What do you think of it

Some follow up questions: How have struggles in your life changed you? Or maybe changed those around you? What would it look like for God to be present in those challenges?

  4. Service ended this weekend with people saying “I belong to Jesus” through the public act of baptism. What do you believe about baptism?

Some follow up questions: Have you been baptized, or ever thought about it? Why did you make the decision? This passage about baptism may offer another perspective in your conversation. Read it out loud and discuss.
